As well as finding other people interested in the sport they will already have a network of locations they can fly from which will save you any leg work and wasted time trying to find a location.

Some clubs have websites which have details on areas they fly from (so you don't necessarily have to join the club to find areas in which you can fly).

Hang gliding is an air sport . It is both recreational and competitive.
